“Saudi league can become one of the best in the world” – Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea flop and Roma striker Romelu Lukaku, has stated the Saudi Pro League can become one of the best in the world.

The Belgian forward has not exactly justified his hefty £97.5 million ($122m) move from Inter Milan to Chelsea back in 2021. and is currently on-loan at Serie A side Roma, who last week fired Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.

However, in a recent friendly match in Saudi Arabia against Al-Shabab where he scored the winning goal, Lukaku thrown his support behind the Saudi Pro League and saying he sees it becoming one of the best in the world soon, GOAL reports.

Here’s what Lukaku said:

“In the next two years I see this league becoming one of the best in the world, if not the best. The clubs make a lot of efforts to bring the big players here. As a result, the teams and the footballing qualities are improving significantly.”

Despite scoring 15 goals in 26 games for AS Roma since his loan move there, the 30-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a transfer to Saudi Arabia.

And now following this statement, it looks like Lukaku has finally opened the door to a possible move there pretty soon.
