Cristiano Ronaldo shows AFCON interest, sends message to Sadio Mane

Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane

Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo sent a heartfelt message to teammate and Senegal star Sadio Mane, ahead of their AFCON round of 16 match vs Cote d’Ivoire.

Ronaldo rejoined his teammates after their China tour was postponed last week following his injury, as they prepare themselves ahead of resumption of the Saudi Pro League. The league went on a break for the Asian Cup currently ongoing in Qatar, with Saudi Arabia in the knockout stage of the tournament.

However, Ronaldo still took a moment to wish his teammate Sadio Mane luck before Senegal’s last 16 Africa Cup of Nations clash against Cote d’Ivoire.

“Good luck mate”, Ronaldo captioned a photo of himself with Mane, which he posted on his Instagram story.

Senegal and hosts Cote d’Ivoire locked horns in the Round of 16 knockout stage on Monday 29 January 2024, with the game ending 1-1 at full-time.

Mane delivered the assist that gave Senegal an early lead on Monday night, but Ivorian Franck Kessie scored late to force the game into extra time, which ended 5-4 on penalties in favour of Cote d’Ivoire and getting Senegal eliminated from the competition.
