Saudi clubs are interested in Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong

Soccer clubs in the Saudi Pro League are reportedly interested in Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong, following an impressive outing so far in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Troost-Ekong who plays for Greek club PAOK Thessaloniki, has led his national team, the Super Eagles, to the AFCON final after their 4-2 semifinals penalty win over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Wednesday.

And his performances at the heart of the Nigeria defence has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, with a summer transfer on the cards.

Romano speaks on Troost-Ekong and Saudi interest

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Nigerian centre-back is now a top target for a plethora of clubs in the oil-rich Gulf nation.

Speaking on Troost-Ekong via his page on X (formerly Twitter), Romano wrote:

“Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong caught the attention of clubs in Saudi due to his impressive performances in the AFCON. He’s been leading PAOK to top of Greek Super League and Europe Conference League, he’s very happy there — but the Saudi interest for summer is strong.”
