Man United under Erik ten Hag are set to bring in new additions to Old Trafford in the summer with a French fullback in their sights.

After injuries to key players such as Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, the club hierachy is set to bolster his options in that area of the Manchester United defence.

With injury issues at left-back, Ten Hag eyes a solution from Italy

Per reports, Ten Hag has now taken a step forward in action to bring in a highly-rated French international worth about $59m. This time however, it is Theo Hernandez, the left-back who plays for Italian Serie A side AC Milan.

The 26-year-old defender is hotly sought after by Europe’s elite clubs, including French giants Paris St. Germain (PSG) who are also interested in getting his signature on the dotted line.

With the battle now wide open for the best club to emerge victorious, Erik ten Hag would be hoping that his side manage to fully convince Hernandez that making the switch to England is the right choice. Reports state that Man United have contacted agents of Theo Hernanadez “and made them clear they would like to transfer him during the summer.”

Theo Hernandez has made a total of 197 appearances for AC Milan since joining from Spanish side Deportivo Alaves and netting 28 goals so far for the San Siro based club.

Man United injury list grows with key fullbacks unavailable

Injuries to fullbacks at the left side of United’s defence, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, meant that Erik ten Hag was left with no option than to search for a replacement as soon as possible.

Malacia in particular had cemented his place in the United squad as first-choice left-back before picking up a knee injury in pre-season. The Netherlands international is slated to return to full fitness in 2024, but there has been no definitive date announced.
